Why can't I see my location on the map?

Generally, when using the Intterra web application, you can see your location marked on the map when you click on the zoom to location icon at the bottom right of the map (upper right on phones).

Why doesn't it work?

There are several reasons why zoom to location and map location icon do not work - here are a few items to check.
  • Permission Settings
    • Browser  - Users must choose share my location if prompted when opening the Maps app.  If you aren't prompted, check in your browser settings make sure location is either 'sites can ask for your location' or apps.intterragroup.com is in a list of sites allowed to see your location. Tip: Each browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari) have their own app settings.
    • Device - The device settings must allow apps to access the device location. Check your device settings.
    • Agency provided devices - MDC's, iPads, etc.  Please check with you IT support.  Agencies often configure devices to specific configurations to work with mobile CAD and other apps.  They should be able to help diagnose the problem.
  • Hardware - Your device may not have a GPS or access to the internet.  Many devices do not have a built in GPS - for example, most PC's, iPads with that do not have data plan capabilities. They rely on a location provided by WiFi and router locations.  If no WiFi, no location. This also explains why your location may be displayed at completely different location.
  • Known Issue - Some iOS devices do not respond when touching the zoom to location icon.
