How can I export to a KML format?
Users may have a need to export data from Intterra for use in an app or device that requires a KML format.
The Layer Export Tool does not support export to KML directly, but there are a couple simple options.
First, use the Layer Export Tool to export to a shape file format.
Next, convert the file to KML.
- Google Earth Pro will import shape files (unzipped). The files can viewed and then saved as KML.
- There are several web services. https://mygeodata.cloud/converter/shp-to-kml is one that works well and will accept zipped files directly from the export tool.
- ESRI applications will using the exports shape or gdb will export shape files to KML.
Note: Controlling symbology is very limited with KML format using the first two options.
